Abstraction
Abstraction:
at first I thought it ment- doesn't show any real shape
But really it means- 1 existing in thought or as an idea but not having a physical or concrete existence: abstract concepts such as love or beauty.
• dealing with ideas rather than events: the novel was too abstract and esoteric to sustain much attention.
• not based on a particular instance; theoretical: we have been discussing the problem in a very abstract manner.
• (of a noun) denoting an idea, quality, or state rather than a concrete object.
2 relating to or denoting art that does not attempt to represent external reality, but rather seeks to achieve its effect using shapes, colours, and textures.

This image is by Paul Strand. It is entitled 'Abstraction, Twin Lakes, Connecticut' and was made in 1916. You can read more about the image here. The photographer created an abstract image deliberately, drawing attention to the Formal Elements. i think the photographer was interested in the shadow
My title would be: Toilet lid. One unusual thing about this photograph is that he took a photo of what i wouldn't expect. I think the photographer looks brown because there was no other colour to go with the photo. If i has to make a photo like this i would add more details to the photo (i mean like add different things) and also more interesting things.. I would use different things in the background. The best the best thing about the photograph is that it has lots of different good shadows on this photo.

Photo Shoot
In class we was asked to go on an app called Huelus and I take photos of things that people won't recognise what the photo is, and what I did first was took photo and it was obvious to see what the photo was.
Focus:
Light: Line: Repetition: Shape: Space: Texture: |
Which areas appear clearest or sharpest in the photograph? Which do not?
Which areas of the photograph are brightest? Are there any shadows? Does the photograph allow you to guess the time of day? Is the light natural or artificial? Harsh or soft? Reflected or direct? Are there objects in the photograph that act as lines? Are they straight, curvy, thin, thick? Do the lines create direction in the photograph? Do they outline? Do the lines show movement or energy? Are there any objects, shapes or lines which repeat and create a pattern? Do you see geometric (straight edged) or organic (curvy) shapes? Which are they? Is there depth to the photograph or does it seem shallow? What creates this appearance? Are there important negative (empty) spaces in addition to positive (solid) spaces? Is there depth created by spatial illusions i.e. perspective? If you could touch the surface of the photograph how would it feel? How do the objects in the picture look like they would feel? Is there a range of tones from dark to light? Where is the darkest value? Where is the lightest? |

Tamara Lorenz
Tamara Lorenz was born in 1976 in Oberhausen. In 2000 she completed her diploma in visual communication at Dortmund university of applied sciences. Between 2001 and 2004 she completed her postgraduate studies in Media Art at the academy of Media Arts in college. In her latest photographs the artist creates works that have the look of abstract paintings. By the photographing self-assembled, staggered backdrops and playing skilfully with lights and shade, Lorenz virtually dissolve spatial reality in her photographs.

Jerry Reed
Jerry Reeds was born in 1937 at Atlanta Georgia U.S.
He was an American singer, guitarist and a songwriter, and he was an actor who appeared in dozen of films. His history: ''I came to fine art photography after a career in the oncology pharmaceutical industry. When I retired, I committed the same amount of energy from my previous career towards becoming a professional photographer. Turning away from direct scientific observation, my work speaks indirectly, but with continued caring about how society’s institutions affect its members''. Jerry cites both Rössler and Bruguière as influences on his work. His objective, analytical approach to documenting visual effects may reflect his early career as a scientist. |

EBI:
next time i will make my own shapes like on paper and cut out shapes of my own. |
WWW:
I like this photo because its more interesting and theres more to look at in the photo, |
EBI:
make it more clear because at first it looks a bit confusing, so maybe you should of taken another photo, an outside photo, also have more conntrast. |

WWW:
My photo looks like i have open my skin, but really what i did was print out another photo of me, and scrambled that picture then i added that behind my clean photo.
EBI:
What I will do next time is, instead of scrambling my photo i will edit the photo to be colorful (rainbow)

EVALUATION TEMPLATE
A01:
The theme that I explored was 'abstract', what my thoughts where when I first heard that word was, that it would be interesting to learn about this theme because I have never heard that word before. As I was learning about this subject and trying new things like learning how to take photo in the white screen, I found myself doing things that I have never really done before like putting images together making it not look clear also cutting out pictures or ripping them and blending them with another photo and making photo not looking like something and until I ended up with this final piece of work I think I really worked hard on this final one. I took 2 photo one of myself and another on of a tree, then I blended them together on photoshop then added another photo from google, its called 'abstract triangle' , then I multiplied it with the photo that I blended together and it became a whole photo and I got this triangle idea from my colleague and she really inspired me to do this from looking at her work.
A02:
I have experiment a lot of things in this photo like using photo shop, I thought it would be a good idea to mess around with it and try different things to see what works out for my photo and what doesn't work and get use to it before I actually do my real piece of work and it worked really well for me.
What went well for me is, its a blurry picture and you can't really see what the photo actually is, and you can't really tell how many photo there is in the photo and to be honest overall I would says its a difficult photo to tell what it actually and what else went well is the way photo came out in the end.
What I could improve for next time is to print out the photo when I finish blending it, I could of cut out my own triangle and put another photo behind it to make it look even more interesting.
A04:
written, oral or other elements.

- Describe your final outcome(s) for this project in some detail.
- What were you hoping to create? Did it work? How do you know? What were your success criteria?
- Do you think you have successfully explored the theme? Why/why not?
- What decisions did you make about how to display it? How have you researched various display strategies?
- What is personal about your work?
- What do you hope viewers will understand from looking at it?
- If you had more time, what else would you have liked to try?
- My final outcome for my photo has improved a lot from the other work that I did (the other abstract photo that I have been working on). I was hoping to create a circles and put a background behind it, but then i changed my mind and did the triangle because then my photo would be more effective and it didn't quiet work out because I ran out of time in the end, because I started cutting out the triangle then there was one hour left, then I didn't quiet make it so I decided that I will do a quick way on photoshop to edit my photo so thats what I did to make it look similar to what I want it to loo like in the end. I think that I successfully explored the theme by trying different things in Abstract. I have decided to display it by mounting it and I have cut out the photo into 11 rectangle and some are small and some are big and I left a space between the photos. My personal strategies is to add more colour to my to make it more effective.
- I think that when other people look at it they will be confused by what I done to they photos. If i had more time I would make the image bigger and add lots of details in it.
